Cookie Statement
Cookie Statement for Model Plane Zone (MPZ)
Last updated: 13 October 2026
This Cookie Statement explains which cookies and similar technologies Model Plane Zone (MPZ) uses, and how you control them. It goes together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data in general.
What cookies are
Cookies are small files that a website stores in your browser. They help a site work, remember your choices and see how it is used. Similar technologies, such as session storage in your browser, work in the same way. In this statement, "cookies" covers all of them.
The kinds of cookies we use
Necessary cookies make the marketplace work and keep it secure: signing in, your cart and your cookie choice. They do not need your consent and are always on.
Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) help us see how the site is used. They are optional.
Marketing cookies (Google Ads) help us see whether our Google ads lead to orders, and let Google show you ads for MPZ and its listings on other websites and apps after you have visited us. They are optional.
We set optional cookies only after you say yes. If you say no, the site works normally.
Your choice
On your first visit, the cookie banner offers three buttons: "Accept all", "Necessary only" and "Manage choices". With "Manage choices" you can switch analytics and marketing on or off separately. Saying no is as easy as saying yes.
Until you choose, and if you choose "Necessary only", no Google tags are loaded at all. When you say yes, we load the Google tag and pass your choice to Google through Google Consent Mode.
You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page.
The cookies we set
Necessary cookies
- __Secure-better-auth.session_token (MPZ). Keeps you signed in. Set when you log in. Lasts 7 days and is renewed while you use the site. If you untick "Remember me" when you log in, it is deleted when you close your browser.
- __Secure-better-auth.dont_remember (MPZ). Set only when you untick "Remember me". Deleted when you close your browser.
- __Secure-better-auth.state (MPZ). Protects your sign-in when you log in with Google, Facebook or X. Lasts 5 minutes.
- mpz_cart (MPZ). Remembers what is in your cart. Lasts 30 days.
- mpz_cart_excluded (MPZ). Remembers which sellers in your cart you left out of this checkout. Lasts 30 days.
- mpz_active_store (MPZ). For sellers with more than one store: remembers which store you are managing. Deleted when you close your browser.
- mpz_consent (MPZ). Stores your cookie choice. Lasts 1 year. After that, we ask again.
- mpz_team (MPZ). Set only on devices of the MPZ team, so our own visits are not counted in our visitor numbers. Lasts 1 year.
Analytics cookies (only with your consent)
- _ga (Google Analytics). Tells visitors apart for site statistics. Lasts 2 years.
- _ga_Q8HYE7FW6Q (Google Analytics). Keeps track of your visit for our Google Analytics property. Lasts 2 years.
- mpz_purchase_ga_ followed by the order number (MPZ, session storage). Makes sure a purchase is counted only once in Google Analytics. Deleted when you close the browser tab.
Marketing cookies (only with your consent)
- _gcl_au (Google Ads). Links an order to the Google ad that led to it. Lasts 90 days.
- _gcl_aw (Google Ads). Remembers the Google ad you clicked to reach us. Set only if you arrived through an ad. Lasts 90 days.
- mpz_purchase_ads_ followed by the order number (MPZ, session storage). Makes sure a purchase is reported to Google Ads only once. Deleted when you close the browser tab.
- Google may also set cookies on its own domains, such as test_cookie (15 minutes) on doubleclick.net, to measure our ads. Google controls these cookies. See policies.google.com/technologies/cookies.
We do not set any cookies other than those listed here. If that changes, we update this statement first.
What Google receives
Google Analytics receives the pages you visit, what you search for and view, your browser and device type, your approximate location (worked out from your IP address, which Google does not store) and, when you order, the order reference and the order value. Google processes this on our behalf and does not get your name, email or address.
Google Ads receives that you came from one of our ads and, when you order, the order reference and the order value. It does not get your name, email, address or the items you bought. For Google Ads, Google is a separate controller under its own privacy policy.
Ads for MPZ on other sites (remarketing). If you accept marketing cookies, Google may add you to a list of people who visited MPZ, based on the pages and listings you viewed, and show you ads for MPZ and its listings on other websites and apps. We do not give Google your name or email for this. If you say no, or switch marketing cookies off later, this stops. You can also manage the ads Google shows you at myadcenter.google.com.
Google may process this data in the United States. That transfer is covered by Google's certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, with the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses as a backstop.
Our visit counter (no cookies)
We also count visits ourselves, without cookies and without storing anything on your device. For each page view, a small script tells our own server which page you opened, which website sent you, whether you use a phone or a computer, whether you are signed in (not which account), which buttons and links you click (by their name, never what you type) and how far down the page you scroll. Our server works out your country from your IP address (keeping only the country code) and turns your IP address and browser type into a code using a random key that changes every day. The old key is deleted, so visits on different days cannot be linked. We never store your IP address for this, we do not build a profile of you, and we do not share the data. Visits from the MPZ team are not counted.
We use this for our own statistics about how the site is used. Because it has little or no impact on your privacy, Dutch law allows it without consent (article 11.7a(3)(b) of the Telecommunicatiewet). Clicks and scrolling are never linked to you or to an order. On a day you place an order, our own record of the pages you visited that day is linked to your order, for customer service; the Privacy Policy (sections 13 and 19) explains this, our legitimate interest as the basis, and how to object.
Other websites in our checkout and sign-in
When you pay, you go to Stripe's own payment page. When you sign in with Google, Facebook or X, you go to their page. These parties set their own cookies on their own websites. Their own cookie and privacy policies apply.
Changing or withdrawing your choice
Use "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page to change your choice at any time. When you switch a category off, its Google tags stop straight away. Cookies already stored stay in your browser until they expire, unless you delete them in your browser settings.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser. If you block necessary cookies, signing in, the cart and checkout will not work.
Your cookie choice is stored only in your own browser, in the mpz_consent cookie. If you delete it, we ask you again.
Changes to this statement
We update this statement when the cookies we use change. The date at the top shows the latest version.
