This Cookie Statement explains how Model Plane Zone (MPZ) uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can control them. It works together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally.

What cookies are

The two kinds of cookies we use

Essential cookies are needed for the marketplace to work and to stay secure. They do not need your consent, and they are always active.

Optional cookies (analytics, marketing, and preferences) are not needed to use the site. We only set them after you give your consent, and you can change your mind at any time. If you do not consent, these cookies are not set, and the marketplace still works normally.

When you first visit, our cookie banner lets you accept or refuse optional cookies, and "Manage cookies" lets you turn each optional category on or off. Refusing is as easy as accepting.

The cookie categories

Essential cookies (always active)

Required for login, cart, checkout, security (including CSRF protection), the seller and buyer dashboards, and for storing your cookie preference. Without these the marketplace cannot work, so they cannot be turned off.

Analytics cookies (optional)

Help us understand how visitors use the marketplace, including product views, searches, checkout steps, and site performance. We use these only after you consent.

We use Google Analytics for this. Google Analytics may transfer some data to Google in the United States. That transfer is covered by Google's certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, with the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses as a backstop. Marketing cookies (optional)

Help us measure how future marketing campaigns perform and understand how visitors arrive at Model Plane Zone. We use these only after you consent. Marketing cookies are only set if we run such a campaign and you accept the marketing category; if we are not running one, no marketing cookies are placed.

  • modelplanezone_session (MPZ, first party). Keeps your session active, including login state, cart and checkout session, and security state. Lasts 2 hours.

  • mpzcookieconsent (MPZ, first party). Stores your cookie choices for analytics, marketing, and preferences cookies. Lasts 1 year.

Analytics cookies

  • _ga (Google Analytics). Helps tell visitors apart for site analytics. Lasts about 2 years.

  • gaQ8HYE7FW6Q (Google Analytics). Stores Google Analytics session and state information for the MPZ analytics property. Lasts about 2 years.

Marketing cookies

  • _fbp (Meta/Facebook, if active). Helps measure or attribute visits from Meta/Facebook advertising. Lasts about 3 months.

  • _ttp (TikTok, if active). Helps measure or attribute visits from TikTok advertising. Lasts about 13 months.

  • test_cookie (Google/DoubleClick, if active). Checks whether your browser supports cookies for advertising measurement. Lasts about 15 minutes.

Preferences cookies

  • sidebar_collapsed (MPZ, first party). Remembers whether a seller collapsed the seller dashboard sidebar. Lasts 1 month.

Some optional analytics or marketing cookies are only set if you accept the relevant optional cookie category. The exact third-party cookies present may depend on the services active on the site at the time of your visit.

Managing your cookies

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using Manage cookies on the site. Turning a category off stops those cookies being used going forward; some cookies already set may remain on your device until they expire or you clear them.

You can also control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them. Blocking essential cookies may stop the marketplace working properly, for example login, cart, or checkout.

We keep a record of your consent choice so that we can show your preference was respected. This record is itself stored using an essential cookie.

Changes to this statement

We may update this Cookie Statement when the cookies we use change. The current version is always on the site, with the date at the top.
